Developer Notes: If It Hurts, You Won't Do It Daily

NEO SHOT began not with an ingredient but a sentence. The people who designed the formula on why pain-free came first.

It began not with an ingredient but with a sentence. If it hurts, you won't do it daily. GIPPEUN's development started not by chasing a stronger ingredient, but by holding on to that simple premise.

Why pain-free, of all things

Micro-needle spicules clearly worked. They'd long been used as a way to deliver ingredients deep into skin. The problem was that they hurt. Stinging and redness meant you could only use them once every few days, and sensitive skin often couldn't touch them at all.

But skin changes through daily accumulation, not one strong day. Here the perspective flipped. Pain wasn't just a discomfort to endure — it was the single biggest barrier blocking daily care. Making something pain-free wasn't a matter of comfort; it was the precondition that made longevity possible in the first place.

We tried to shrink it, and it snapped

The direction was clear: make the spicule smaller and the irritation would drop. But when we simply shrank the existing spicule, it kept snapping. When a spicule breaks, the active ingredient it holds leaks out, and the share that embeds properly in skin falls. Facing the paradox that smaller meant worse performance, we realized the problem wasn't size — it was structure.

Searching for a spicule-shaped plant

So we changed the approach. Instead of forcing the old coarse spicule down in size, we set out to find a plant material shaped like a spicule's structure. After long research, we produced a vegan neo-spicule far smaller and yet able to hold more active ingredient. That's how the NEO SHOT was born.

What changed when it got smaller

Once it was smaller, several problems resolved at once. It no longer broke in transit, and it spread across skin at a finer density and absorbed more widely. And above all — it didn't hurt.

The numbers made it clear. Where an older spicule could hold active ingredient at only about 3% of its size, the 60μm neo-spicule reduced the near-pain irritation while holding up to roughly 70%. Smaller, yet holding more by widening the internal pore structure — the result of changing the design rather than just the size.

Ten years of hands behind it

A design like this doesn't appear overnight. Behind it stood a manufacturing partner who had held on to spicule technology for more than ten years — spicule-related patents, and the experience of engineering pain-free, low-irritation, high-efficiency delivery together, matched to skin type and area. It was thanks to those hands, which have led K-spicule science, that three conditions so prone to clashing could be satisfied in one place.

In the end, a technology you can do daily

Looking back, what we made wasn't a stronger technology but one you can do daily. It has to be pain-free to do daily, it has to be daily to accumulate, and it has to accumulate to change skin's speed. To GIPPEUN, pain-free isn't a matter of sensation — it's the way longevity is actually realized.

NEO SHOT is the ultra-fine spicule technology GIPPEUN completed by holding two conditions at once: pain-free and delivery.
